BRING BACK THE OLD WEB

Web3, as a concept, would make the commercialisation of the modern-day internet much worse. But it's not like what we have now is any good, either. People send literal death threats over minor differences in opinion, acceptance of morally wrong things is far too widespread, and gatekeeping is rampant. What I propose, personally, is a return to the old web. A return to lovingly hand-coded personal websites, creative safe havens, and uncensored communication. Web2 concepts like "cringe culture" and being "chronically online" make people afraid to be themselves, and those things simply didn't exist in 1999. In addition, the modern web seems to have dismissed the idea of privacy as a human right. This is inherently dangerous, making it seem normal for personal information to be bought and sold without the consent of the individual in question. On many sites, denying or blocking cookies makes the page completely unusable. This makes it incredibly difficult to browse the web safely and securely without paying money, and not everyone can afford a VPN, TOR, or proxy browser. Because of this, modern-day online privacy is all but completely blocked from the working class.
